About us

Carnival Maritime GmbH is part of Carnival Corporation and serves the brands of AIDA Cruises and Costa Crociere as their marine service unit. The company was founded in 2015 to foster communication processes between ship and shore as well as further strengthening collaboration and cross-sectional coordination between Carnival Maritime and the brands. In Hamburg, Carnival Maritime brings together the Marine, Technical and HESS expertise including Human Resources Deck & Engine and Technical Procurement.

The Unit provides digital support to the vessels of Aida Cruises and Costa Crociere, enabling real time support in risk and crisis management as well as optimized route planning. Additionally, Carnival Maritime assists maintenance, and refurbishment, takes care of trainings, route planning, technical procurement, medical services, support of the nautical and technical staff on board and auditing of the vessels with regard to safety, danger prevention and staff. Through service and innovation Carnival Maritime enables the brands to meet the current and future needs of the cruise industry.

The integrated Fleet Operation Center is monitoring and supporting ships of the Carnival Corporation (AIDA Cruises, Costa Crociere, Cunard Line, P&O Cruises). Carnival Maritime employs specialists from over 40 different nations. The corporate division is owned by Costa Crociere S.p.A. and is located in Hamburg, Germany.

Keith Dowds - Executive Vice President

As of April 1st 2020, Carnival Maritime is led by Mr. Keith Dowds who has been working for 30 years with Carnival Corporation. Native to northern Ireland, Mr. Dowds started his seagoing career in 1981 on board BP tankers, whilst studying for his Nautical qualifications. He joined P&O Cruises in 1990 and was appointed Captain in 2005 serving as Master for 8 years and Fleet Captain for 2 years. After coming ashore in 2015 to shore management, he has held roles both within Carnival UK for P&O Cruises and Cunard operations and latterly within Carnival Maritime. Through his 30 years within Carnival Corporation, he has been involved directly in multiple aspects of cruise ship operations, safety management, Marine HR, newbuildings and senior shore management roles.

The ISO 45001 is the leading International Standard for setting up and developing an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System. Carnival Maritime has achieved the ISO 45001:2018 certification for all Costa, AIDA and CSSC ships as well as for the Carnival Maritime office in Hamburg through the independent, third-party auditor RINA. Applied to our operations globally, the OHS Management System fosters common practices and solutions, as well as worldwide consistency. It also demonstrates our commitment to provide safe and healthy workplaces, by eliminating hazards, minimizing OHS risks and proactively improving the OHS performance.
